چکیده

SUMMARY Hemangioendotheliomas are rare vascular tumors that can affect bone. They account for 0.5% to 1.0% of malignant primary bone tumors. Only four cases have been reported involving the temporal bone. A 5-year-old child with grade II hemangioendothelioma of the right temporal bone is presented, and the radiologic findings on different imaging studies are described. The patient was treated with preoperative endovascular embolization followed by wide surgical resection. The imaging patterns of this malignant tumor may be similar to those of a benign lesion.

Spindle Cell Hemangioendothelioma of the Temporal Muscle Resected with Zygomatic Osteotomy: A Case Report of an Unusual Intramuscular Lesion Mimicking Sarcoma

Spindle cell hemangioendothelioma (SCH) was originally described by Weiss and Enzinger (1986) as a low-grade angiosarcoma resembling both cavernous hemangioma and Kaposi's sarcoma. Recent studies suggest that SCH is a benign neoplasm or reactive lesion accompanying a congenital or acquired vascular malformation. Most SCHs present as one or more nodules affecting the dermis or subcutis of the di...

High Grade Hemangioendothelioma of the Temporal Bone in a Child: A Case Report

Hemangioendothelioma is a rare vascular tumor characterized by endothelial tumor cells and variable malignant behavior, and it's not common for this lesion to involve the bone. Although there are a few reports of cranial involvement by hemangioendothelioma, only rare cases arising in temporal bone have been published. We present the radiologic findings of a 7-year-old boy who had a high grade h...

We present a case of spindle cell hemangioendothelioma possessing clinical aggressiveness with painful bony erosion, histologic pleomorphism and mit...

Osseous hemangiomas are benign bone tumors that are most commonly found in the calvarium and vertebral bodies. Hemangiomas of the skull base usually are found in the temporal bone. Hemangioma of the clivus is extremely rare and only one case in the basi-sphenoid region [1] and two cases in the body of the sphenoid have been reported [1, 2]. We present the clinical and radiologic findings of an ...
